Ohio State University @ The Lima Campus Library

One Button Studio: Introduction

The One Button Studio is a simplified video recording setup that can be used without any previous video production experience. You can create high-quality video projects without having to know anything about lights or cameras, because the equipment is pre-set. You need to bring only a flash drive with you and push a single button. (

The studio is open to all Ohio State University and Rhodes State College faculty, staff, and students. To reserve it, use the online ScheduleThing calendar below. You will need a picture ID and active library record (no blocks or fines over $50) to check out the key to the studio.

The studio is open 8am-5pm, Monday-Friday.

No more than three people can be in the studio at one time. Please consult with library staff for any exceptions.

You must bring your own flash drive to record your video! We strongly recommend using at least a 16GB flash drive, preferably Kingston or SanDisk. The better your drive, the better the quality of your video. Also, be sure it is formatted to FAT32. For information on formatting, please go here. Please note the studio is only for recording, not for editing videos.

One Button Studio: Reservations

Once you have a flash drive and made sure it is formatted to FAT32, reserve the One Button Studio by clicking the button below. You can reserve it for 15-minute sessions.

One Button Studio: Policies

Checking out the OBS key constitutes an agreement to abide by OBS policies as posted here and OCIO's Responsible Use of University Computing and Network Resources policies. Failure to adhere to these policies may result in the loss of privileges.

OBS reservations may be made only on this website. If the studio is not reserved, it is available for walk-in use. Reservations are on a first come, first served basis. Reservations may be forfeited if the room isn’t occupied within 10 minutes of the reserved time.

To check out the OBS key, patrons need to present a photo ID to the library circulation desk. An active library account in good standing (no blocks, no fines over $50) is required to use the studio. Patrons are responsible for any damage to OBS equipment during the checkout period. At the end of the OBS session, please shut the door before returning the key to the circulation desk. Patrons must return the key within the checkout time and with the room in good condition.

The room may be used for 15-minute sessions. Patrons may reserve multiple sessions if necessary, but please be courteous and reserve only the time needed.

Please do not move furniture in or out of the studio.

Do not move the computer console. Do not adjust the lights or microphone.

Patrons need to bring their own USB drive to use with the One Button Studio.

Known Issues

Sometimes Windows Media Player will not align the sound and video, so they are out of sync. If that happens, try using VLC. It is a free, open source media player:
